SOURCING
amidst countless textile manufacturers who claim ethically grown crops & fairly paid workers, buying secondhand textiles remains the most ethical & time-consuming avenue for sourcing textile goods
PRICING
at $3O-$5O / hour, my pricing immediately reflects the time invested in the cutting & sewing of each piece & indirectly covers the time spent on website design, sourcing & continued education
WORKING HOURS
as a singular person artistic small business, it’s easy to become enveloped in every aspect of the occupation but ethically, there is a max production limit before burnout is inevitable
FAIR PAY
my initial goal is to intake $1,OOO / month with the intention to scale up to $4,OOO of profit per month, which equates to $48,OOO a year – a fair living wage for an artist residing in northern michigan paying $1,3OO / month in rent
TEXTILE WASTE
with most textile manufacturers incorporating varied percentages of poly with organic fibers, it is an unethical practice to send scraps to landfills where they will never decompose – hence, here is my solution to zero waste
SHIPPING
there are necessary evils to owning a textile business – poly packing sleeves prevent water staining in transit but my sleek black mailers from hero packaging are biodegradable & home compostable
