brb saving every last little bit
O5. ZERO
WASTE
zero means zero
LET’S ADD ZERO TEXTILE WASTE TO LANDFILLS IN 2O23
SHALL WE
HERE’S HOW
-
SUPPLEMENTING
BY IMPLEMENTING THE ART OF REDUCTION, FULL PANELS FOR ONE CLOTHING PIECE ARE CUT & SEWN FIRST FROM THE TEXTILE, SUBTRACTING FROM THE WHOLE TO LEAVE SALVAGE PIECES
7X7 SQUARES ARE CUT FROM THOSE SALVAGES & SUPPLEMENTED WITH ANOTHER FABRIC’S 7X7 SQUARES FOR A TWO-TONED QUILTED EFFECT
-
PATCHWORK STRIPS
NEXT, THE REMAINING SALVAGES ARE CUT INTO RECTANGULAR STRIPS TO THE NEAREST INCH
PANELS OF 4 INCH STRIPS CAN BE SEWN NEXT TO THOSE OF 3 INCH STRIPS, THEN 5 INCH STRIPS, ETC
THIS METHOD OF PATCHWORK SAVES THE MOST OF THE TEXTILE WITHOUT USING ORGANIC SHAPES
-
POUF FILL
THE WHOLE TEXTILE HAS BEEN REDUCED FROM ONE CLOTHING PIECE’S WORTH TO SQUARES THEN DOWN TO VARIOUS WIDTH RECTANGLES
WHAT IS LEFT IS CONSIDERED TEXTILE WASTE, THE SCRAPS THAT WOULD BE THROWN AWAY
ALL OF MY SCRAPS & THREADS & LEFTOVER RECYCLED POLY FILL HAS BEEN FILLING A BLACK JEAN PATCHWORKED POUF FOR ALMOST FOUR YEARS
